About Helga Hayse

Two years before she was widowed, Helga created “A Wife’s Guide to Financial Intimacy” to teach women about the need for financial participation in their marriage. Just as she was launching the seminar in the public arena, Helga’s husband died suddenly in an accident. The information she had researched to teach other women helped save her life.
Helga is the founder of The Institute for Vital Aging, a California non-profit organized to teach people in midlife about renewed opportunities for wellness and healthy aging. She received two national writing awards and worked as a writer for the San Jose Mercury News magazine.
She is a member of the American Society on Aging and was an invited speaker at the 2006 annual convention.
Helga has presented this information for New York Life, Allstate Life, and Merrill Lynch. She conducts public seminars for women and gives talks for financial planning firms and organizations. She also teaches in the Adult Education programs in the San Francisco Bay area.
“Don’t Worry About a Thing, Dear” – Why Women Need Financial Intimacy is based on Helga’s own experience of being widowed suddenly but having the financial and emotional tools to rebuild her life.
Helga is also the author of “Reconstructing Aphrodite”, a book of interviews with women who have survived breast cancer.
