Two years before she was widowed, Helga created “A Wife’s Guide to Financial Intimacy” to teach women about the need for financial participation in their marriage. Just as she was launching the seminar in the public arena, Helga’s husband died suddenly in an accident. The information she had researched to teach other women helped save her life.
As a member of the American Society on Aging, Helga was an invited speaker at the annual convention and the NorCal Financial Planners Conference. She has presented seminars for New York Life, Allstate Life, Merrill Lynch, Coldwell Banker and financial and estate planning firms. She leads seminars for women and talks to financial planning and legal organizations about the importance of encouraging their clients to initiate intergenerational conversations about money, love and legacy.
Her latest book “Money, Love & Legacy: Conversations that Matter between Generations” was published in 2010 and is available here.
Helga is a writer, video producer and award winning journalist. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Journalism from California State University, and has worked as a feature writer for NASA/Ames and the San Jose Mercury News. After careers in free lance and corporate communications, she founded Prime of Life, a consulting company working with businesses on how to understand the demographics, market potential and emotional needs of boomers and seniors.
